[2024/09/08 12:15:32] Josephine Delvalle: (Fun to say that sentence again after the break ;-))
[2024/09/08 12:15:46] Josephine Delvalle: I am glad to see you all again rested and fresh after summer holidays.
[2024/09/08 12:16:04] Josephine Delvalle: Vic, are you ready…?
[2024/09/08 12:16:27] v ɪ ᴄ (Victoria Worbridge): yes I think lol
[2024/09/08 12:16:38] Kika Yongho: ::D
[2024/09/08 12:16:42] Josephine Delvalle: Aaaand here we go 🙂
[2024/09/08 12:16:52] Josephine Delvalle: 1. Who are you? Define yourself in 3 words or a motto.
[2024/09/08 12:17:26] v ɪ ᴄ (Victoria Worbridge): Helloos! I’m Vic. If I’m honest, I don’t really live my life by any motto; I just try to be good to myself and to others and make things that make me happy and/or proud.
[2024/09/08 12:18:12] Josephine Delvalle: That’s a good one. 🙂
[2024/09/08 12:18:32] Josephine Delvalle: 2. How does your background impact your works?
[2024/09/08 12:18:42] v ɪ ᴄ (Victoria Worbridge): Hard to use only 3 words – we’re all multifaceted creatures °͜°
[2024/09/08 12:19:27] v ɪ ᴄ (Victoria Worbridge): Well, I went to art school here in Boston. While there, I studied photography and sculpture, which was a great juxtaposition. I got to experience the rigidity of photography and its limitations, while exploring the limitless nature of sculpture. The difference in attitude of each specialty I think helped me understand each medium better – asked me to push the envelope of how the two could be blended as well. In the end, I focused on alternative processes and mixed media. Not sure if those are fully displayed in how I choose to photography/curate works here in SL, but it’s curious to me.
[2024/09/08 12:21:01] Josephine Delvalle: 3. Does art help you in other areas of your life?
[2024/09/08 12:21:23] v ɪ ᴄ (Victoria Worbridge): I think my mind works very creatively and my former studies allow me to think critically about the message in art, but not sure how it affects my day to day life. Certainly, I try to push myself to think “outside of the box” particularly when I’m creating new venues at TIempo.
[2024/09/08 12:22:12] Josephine Delvalle: 4. Who are your biggest artistic influences?
[2024/09/08 12:23:06] v ɪ ᴄ (Victoria Worbridge): Well, my mentor growing up was an amazing artist named David Prifti. I think to this day he is my greatest influence. I studied with him for 4 and some change years and then kept in touch throughout the years until his passing.. he was a huge motivator and reason for me pursuing a fine art education. He asked me to seek alternative ways of looking and making art and asked me to look into myself for inspiration. It was a very therapeutic experience. Whenever I felt lost, I would go into the dark room and experiment and I loved that he provided that safe space for me. Outside of his influence I’d say; Cindy Sherman, Man Ray, Francesca Woodman, to just name a few….
[2024/09/08 12:24:12] v ɪ ᴄ (Victoria Worbridge): COUNTLESS more I should add… Shirin Neshat too!
[2024/09/08 12:24:55] v ɪ ᴄ (Victoria Worbridge): Jerry Uelsmann too! he’s cool!
[2024/09/08 12:26:14] Josephine Delvalle: hese are very special artists and some of their works are almost a bit dark and soul kicking …
[2024/09/08 12:26:22] Josephine Delvalle: wow
[2024/09/08 12:26:37] v ɪ ᴄ (Victoria Worbridge): I prefer to say.. soul hunting maybe?
[2024/09/08 12:27:03] Kika Yongho: /me grins
[2024/09/08 12:27:12] Josephine Delvalle: Yes, my english is a miracle and puzzle sometimes … cough
[2024/09/08 12:27:21] v ɪ ᴄ (Victoria Worbridge): No it’s a great observation!
[2024/09/08 12:27:20] Josephine Delvalle: 5. Show us your favorite photo of someone else, and tell us why is it so.
[2024/09/08 12:28:58] v ɪ ᴄ (Victoria Worbridge): Oh impossible to just pick one, but I love Banagher Crisp’s work… very soft and gentle and his use of darkness invites you to explore closer, I love that he’s not afraid of it. I also love Nadej Dae’s approach to SL photography; a very surrealist, delicate and experimental viewpoint. I admire so many artists here – people have such creativity and I’m always amazed as things I see here! It’s what brought me back to SL after a hiatus — someone mentioned it at my university and I had to come back and see what it was all about!

[2024/09/08 12:30:05] Josephine Delvalle: I guess, we are are glad you came back 🙂
[2024/09/08 12:30:50] v ɪ ᴄ (Victoria Worbridge): °͜°
[2024/09/08 12:30:54] v ɪ ᴄ (Victoria Worbridge): me too!
[2024/09/08 12:31:17] Moki Yuitza: #metoo >^͜^<
[2024/09/08 12:31:34] Josephine Delvalle: 6. Show us your favorite photo you took, and tell us why is it so.
[2024/09/08 12:32:15] v ɪ ᴄ (Victoria Worbridge): Honestly, I’m an amateur compared to others, there’s so many tricks in world to use that I’m so ignorant of lol.. I only really take pictures when I feel it which isn’t so often, but I think from a creative standpoint, I’m quite proud of my blue triptych, “show me I can fall on my own” (https://flic.kr/p/2pueE6h) I think there were about 30 different iterations of it until I settled on this one. I often find myself digging in my old archives and trying to renew/revive them and this photo I took over a year ago in a different photoshoot which I ended up posting/using this image instead (https://flic.kr/p/2oPYESn). So, I was happy to give it another life!
[2024/09/08 12:33:15] Josephine Delvalle: smiles
[2024/09/08 12:33:57] Josephine Delvalle: 7. What question would you ask yourself? And what would you reply to it?
[2024/09/08 12:34:37] v ɪ ᴄ (Victoria Worbridge): What’s next? and I’d say the possibilities are endless! lol
[2024/09/08 12:34:46] Josephine Delvalle: laughhhhhhh
[2024/09/08 12:34:59] Josephine Delvalle: Next is …………………….
[2024/09/08 12:34:59] v ɪ ᴄ (Victoria Worbridge): I’ve been fortunate to explore many different ways to be creative here
[2024/09/08 12:35:12] v ɪ ᴄ (Victoria Worbridge): and enjoy them all, so I welcome the next! lolol
[2024/09/08 12:35:23] Josephine Delvalle: smiles
[2024/09/08 12:35:30] Josephine Delvalle: Next here is:

[2024/09/08 12:37:11] Laurent Philippe (LaurentPhilippePhoto Resident): Q
[2024/09/08 12:37:15] Josephine Delvalle: There we go with
[2024/09/08 12:37:21] Josephine Delvalle: Bee 🙂
[2024/09/08 12:37:37] Josephine Delvalle: bee, pls
[2024/09/08 12:37:51] Ⴆҽҽ (Filipa Emor): I missed a part of the interview and I hope you didn’t answer this… Here it goes: Since you are so connected to music, does music have an important part in your art?
[2024/09/08 12:37:53] Ⴆҽҽ (Filipa Emor): done
[2024/09/08 12:39:03] v ɪ ᴄ (Victoria Worbridge): Oh! I mean.. music is a huuuuuge part of my life, so I think it influences more than I realize probably.. It’s not something I intrinsically think about, but when I was beginning my studies, nothing I loved more than putting on some tunes and getting to work in the dark room!
[2024/09/08 12:39:21] Ⴆҽҽ (Filipa Emor): smiles
[2024/09/08 12:39:26] v ɪ ᴄ (Victoria Worbridge): thank you! done
[2024/09/08 12:39:42] Josephine Delvalle: TY, both
[2024/09/08 12:39:49] Ⴆҽҽ (Filipa Emor): ♥
[2024/09/08 12:39:51] Josephine Delvalle: and we go on with Laurent
[2024/09/08 12:39:55] Josephine Delvalle: Laurent, pls
[2024/09/08 12:40:03] Laurent Philippe (LaurentPhilippePhoto Resident): Thanks. Do you think there’s a common theme or question you try to answer in your RL and SL work? Do they influence one another? Done 🙂
[2024/09/08 12:40:27] Josephine Delvalle: good questions, listen curious
[2024/09/08 12:43:13] v ɪ ᴄ (Victoria Worbridge): My RL work has a lot to do with understanding ancestral roots and how generational trauma has sort of influenced myself and my family.. a few years ago I got fascinated by Virginia Wolf and wrote a poem and made a short film from the perspective of a descendant, so that’s definitely been a theme in a lot of my work.. sort of self identity searching.. I am a descendant of artists, but not a lot of artists in my immediate family, so definitely always felt misunderstood. Here in SL.. not sure I feel that, but I enjoy photographing here nonetheless! lol hope that answered :S
[2024/09/08 12:43:16] v ɪ ᴄ (Victoria Worbridge): done!
[2024/09/08 12:44:01] Laurent Philippe (LaurentPhilippePhoto Resident): Thank you!
[2024/09/08 12:44:39] Kika Yongho: q
[2024/09/08 12:45:03] Moki Yuitza: q
[2024/09/08 12:45:28] Josephine Delvalle: TY for the Q and especially for that deep and open answer ….
[2024/09/08 12:45:44] Josephine Delvalle: Kika, pls
[2024/09/08 12:46:04] Kika Yongho: I notice you have a “dark” recurring theme in your photographs and also your work on SL. Is that related to that? done
[2024/09/08 12:46:35] v ɪ ᴄ (Victoria Worbridge): sorry
[2024/09/08 12:46:36] v ɪ ᴄ (Victoria Worbridge): lolol
[2024/09/08 12:47:11] v ɪ ᴄ (Victoria Worbridge): when you say “dark” do you mean physically via light or emotionally? or both? lol
[2024/09/08 12:47:15] v ɪ ᴄ (Victoria Worbridge): just to clarify lol
[2024/09/08 12:48:29] Kika Yongho: I mean your visuals
[2024/09/08 12:48:49] Kika Yongho: Predominance of dark colors, not necessarily dark mood but gloomy maybe. Done
[2024/09/08 12:49:42] v ɪ ᴄ (Victoria Worbridge): I think I use art as a way to express the things I don’t enjoy discussing… aka my own inner darkness… maybe it’s my way of showing the world what’s hidden beneath? I am a deeply emotional person, but it’s not always pleasant to show that.. Maybe it’s how I see myself? done.
[2024/09/08 12:50:01] Kika Yongho: ♥
[2024/09/08 12:50:33] Josephine Delvalle: nods
[2024/09/08 12:50:44] Josephine Delvalle: Moki, now it is your turn

[2024/09/08 12:50:50] Moki Yuitza: ty >^͜^<
[2024/09/08 12:51:18] Moki Yuitza: you are active in a lot of different fields, with a lot of different mediums… how can you manage all these flows of creativity? have you ever felt overwhelmed by all your ongoing projects?
[2024/09/08 12:51:31] v ɪ ᴄ (Victoria Worbridge): lmfaooooo constantly lol
[2024/09/08 12:51:35] Moki Yuitza: technically are two qwuestions… sorry °͜°
[2024/09/08 12:51:36] Moki Yuitza: done
[2024/09/08 12:51:46] Moki Yuitza: haha

[2024/09/08 13:00:52] v ɪ ᴄ (Victoria Worbridge): oh yes lmfao so many – boston is quite close to NYC.. we’ll close enough anyway and when I was in college we’d go down to the galleries in Chelsea and see what was on view! but, my favorite was actually in Boston at our ICA or Institute of Contemporary Art.. they have in their permanent collection a stunning video installation by Ragnar Kjartansson called “The Visitors”
[2024/09/08 13:01:04] v ɪ ᴄ (Victoria Worbridge): it’s soooooo beautiful but I love his work in general
