"Aerials!"
H.12:00 PM SLT
[The following Episode #43 will be on:
16th of September 2023]
[12:07] Duraya: Before we start our discussion Kika has a few words to say
[12:07] Kika Yongho: Hello Photographers,
how are you? I hope all are well and ready for a new exciting episode #42, titled “Aerials”!
[12:07] Kika Yongho: Before starting the discussion, I will give you some info (or refresh them, if you are usual guests!) and perhaps share some trick that can help everyone to have a smooth and as profitable as possible discussion. Let’s start!
[12:08] Kika Yongho: First of all: arriving on time / few minutes in advance to our appointments – when possible – and get seated as soon as you rez, will surely help the discussion to start on time! When an appointment has started, and there are some late arrival, you can maybe greet them in IM rather than in local chat, not to interrupt the discussion flow. Photo Cafe’ Staff will welcome the new arrivals on your behalf!
[12:09] Kika Yongho: Discussion routine: as you all know now, we have some “rules” to help and run a smooth discussion. Yes, I am talking about the C (comment), Q (question), R (retreat) routine! Once Duraya has started the episode, we all are subjected to the routine! Alright, if you wan to “lol”, or “chuckle”, or “nod” you can do safely, but not more.
[12:09] Kika Yongho: Maybe not all of you know that, to get listed into her HUD, you have to type only the letter (i.e. “c”) in local chat, and no other word or punctuation or sign. Capital letters/lowercase are not influent, but your chat line must contain only the letter: C or Q to reserve your turn. If you are listed and want to retreat your comment/question, simply type R in local!
[12:10] Kika Yongho: And now.. “THE” trick of the tricks… The notecard! As you have something in your mind to say to everyone, and you type in local your C or Q… Open a notecard and start to type your thoughts on it. If you can, split your sentences into self-consistent periods, so you can keep writing while you post the first part and you don’t leave your fellow photographers hanging on for a long time without anything to read.
[12:10] Kika Yongho: Last but not least.. Don’t forget to type “done!” or similar at the end of you speech, so Duraya will know that she can go on with the next in line! I think I am done too btw… Let’s leave as much room as possible to this new very interesting discussion (“Aerials”!) and so I will thank you for the attention, pass the virual mic to Duraya and call.. roger and out!
[12:11] Duraya: Time for today’s theme: Aerial view!
[12:12] Duraya: While you need aircraft, drones, balloons or alternatively have to exhaust yourself climbing high mountains to take airborne images in real life it’s comparatively easily done in our virtual second life.
[12:12] Duraya: I hope the theme of our fun challenge was interesting enough for you to give it a try and you brought lots of interesting shots to share with us, your fellow photographers and discuss your experiences with the task.
[12:13] Duraya: Please this time write c (p) in open to indicate you want to share a picture (p) the other c’s I get will qualify as discussion posts.
[12:15] Duraya: So who will be first to share their work? My discussion tracker impatiently waits to see your names pop up. Let’s get started!
[12:22] onceagain (manoji.yachvili): c(p)
[12:22] Duraya: Once, please go ahead
[12:22] Duraya: love it!
[12:25] ᴍʌᴛᴛ (matthsuogan): very nice shot Once
[12:27] A. (ava.darkheart): c
[12:27] Duraya: yes Ava, comment please
[12:29] A. (ava.darkheart): I love Once’s picture, because yes, it’s aerial, and yes it’s from above… but more than this, there is some sky reflection deep in the hole, it’s like the subject dug a hole to the other side of earth somehow. Plus there is still perspective with the shovel that is not totally straight… Perfect shot! Done
[12:30] Duraya: thank you Ava 🙂
[12:30] Duraya: onceagain please would you say a few words about the experience with that task?
[12:31] onceagain (manoji.yachvili): I often take aerial photos, I have many in my archive so I enjoyed making a new one for this theme
[12:31] onceagain (manoji.yachvili): and isn’t a good period for me now, I mean that as usual I create a deep hole in which I stay alone
[12:32] onceagain (manoji.yachvili): and this is why I’ve done this photo, there are several other in my stream. Done
[12:32] Duraya: deep enough and you reach the other side as Ava said
[12:32] A. (ava.darkheart): I guess we know this feeling Once
[12:33] Duraya: I truly love this one onceagain, thank you for sharing it. More comments?
[12:34] onceagain (manoji.yachvili): Thank you
[12:34] Moki Yuitza: c
[12:34] Duraya: yes please Moki
[12:34] Moki Yuitza: aerial photos are not my forte, also because in my imagination they are always photos taken from a great height.
[12:34] Moki Yuitza: onceagain’s photo has just shown me that it is possible to create very interesting aerial close-ups, which opens me up to new perspectives…
[12:35] Moki Yuitza: having said that, the image is very significant, and technically I would say that there is nothing to add, for me it is perfect. Done
[12:35] Duraya: thank you 🙂
[12:36] Duraya: so if there are no more comments, who wants to share next?
[12:36] ϮƗ Vɪᴏʟᴇᴛᴛᴇ Mᴏʀɴɪɴɢꜱᴛᴀʀ ƗϮ (violette.rembrandt): i do have one
[12:36] Duraya: great Violette
[12:38] A. (ava.darkheart): vertigineux!
[12:39] Duraya: your experiences Violette if you please?
[12:41] ϮƗ Vɪᴏʟᴇᴛᴛᴇ Mᴏʀɴɪɴɢꜱᴛᴀʀ ƗϮ (violette.rembrandt): i never took aerial photos till now as far as i recall or maybe for some fantasy faire memories, but for me aerial pulls to those beautiful Zeppelin photos from above with the city in backdrop
[12:41] ϮƗ Vɪᴏʟᴇᴛᴛᴇ Mᴏʀɴɪɴɢꜱᴛᴀʀ ƗϮ (violette.rembrandt): i went for it right away, dunno if i did it as good as the photos i do have in mind but i give it a try still. Done
[12:43] onceagain (manoji.yachvili): C
[12:43] Duraya: thanks Violette, Once please comment
[12:44] onceagain (manoji.yachvili): I love this idea Violette, waiting to see the final result but is already interesting as it is. Done
[12:45] Duraya: thank you
[12:45] ϮƗ Vɪᴏʟᴇᴛᴛᴇ Mᴏʀɴɪɴɢꜱᴛᴀʀ ƗϮ (violette.rembrandt): thank you
[12:46] Duraya: who wants to show their picture next?
[12:47] DaneAlbion: c (p)
[12:47] Duraya: ah Dane
[12:48] onceagain (manoji.yachvili): c
[12:48] DaneAlbion: I struggled with this theme, didn’t find anything that really inspired me so i fell back on a picture type that i always like, something about the idea of a lone ship heading towards the horizon thats pleasing to me (I know in literature that is often quite a morbid metaphor so hopefully its not that) but i like the simplicity of the image and the movement. Done
[12:48] Duraya: square again
[12:48] DaneAlbion: of course square…there is no other way
[12:48] onceagain (manoji.yachvili): agree!!!!
[12:48] A. (ava.darkheart): c
[12:49] Duraya: once is first to comment on this please
[12:49] onceagain (manoji.yachvili): I only want to say…PERFECT Dane! I love it. Done
[12:49] Moki Yuitza: c
[12:50] Duraya: Thank you and Ava, you are next please
[12:50] A. (ava.darkheart): I just wanted say… I can feel the wind on my face on this one! Love it. Done
[12:51] Duraya smiles, thank you Ava
[12:51] Duraya: and Moki, your post please
[12:51] Moki Yuitza: it should be square, but it seems to me that it’s perfect even in another ratio, love it. Done
[12:52] Duraya: thank you Moki, I even like the square version
[12:52] DaneAlbion grins ‘thank you all for your kind comments’
[12:53] Duraya: who has something to share??? my board is empty!!!
[12:53] Kika Yongho: c (p)
[12:54] Duraya: yes Kika
[12:54] A. (ava.darkheart): c
[12:54] Duraya: ah, you chose my favourite
[12:55] Kika Yongho: I just want to say the title of the pic, “Every breath you take”
[12:55] Duraya: in this case … might be your last?
[12:55] Duraya: looks dangerous, want to share some thoughts about it Kika?
[12:57] Kika Yongho: Well the aerial challenge was very fun to take, I enjoyed the “format” and I took 3 pictures indeed. This specific one took me half a day cause it was also a close-up in the middle of a tree.. But in the end I am happy with the result. Done
[12:57] Duraya: thank you
[12:57] onceagain (manoji.yachvili): c
[12:58] Duraya: Ava is next on my list, will you comment please?
[12:58] A. (ava.darkheart): I totally love this one, storytelling, narrative… there is so much to imagine with this one. And it’s from above. Done
[12:58] ϮƗ Vɪᴏʟᴇᴛᴛᴇ Mᴏʀɴɪɴɢꜱᴛᴀʀ ƗϮ (violette.rembrandt): c
[12:58] Duraya: onceagain your turn please
[12:59] onceagain (manoji.yachvili): Ava spoke for me, love this Kika. Done
[13:00] Duraya: thank you, Violette, your turn!
[13:01] ϮƗ Vɪᴏʟᴇᴛᴛᴇ Mᴏʀɴɪɴɢꜱᴛᴀʀ ƗϮ (violette.rembrandt): I just find the idea really brill, there is a story which is happening in front of me when i see this photo, mine was prolly lacking of story, this one does have one and it’s a lively scenery, when i actually think it’s tough to bring life into aerial photos. Done
[13:02] Duraya: thank you Violette
[13:02] Kika Yongho: Storytelling is not all Violette, I thank you for your comment
[13:04] A. (ava.darkheart): c (p)
[13:05] Duraya: yes Ava
[13:06] A. (ava.darkheart): When i read the rule of the theme, I stopped to the “bird view” explanation, and didn’t read to the end (above)… so this is the fail of the evening
[13:07] ᴍʌᴛᴛ (matthsuogan): C
[13:07] Duraya: well you can’t deny there is some ‘above’ included, Matt your comment please
[13:08] ᴍʌᴛᴛ (matthsuogan): I think aerial view photography generally refers to capturing images from an elevated position, which can include both being directly above the subject or capturing it from a high altitude, in this context, “above” typically refers to a position higher than ground level, whether it is directly overhead or from a significant height, aerial view photography can encompass capturing images from various heights and angles, as long as the viewpoint provides a unique and elevated perspective while it may not involve physical elevation, virtual aerial view photography can still offer a unique and immerse perspective. Finally, you all have beautiful and unique shots. Done
[13:10] Duraya: thank you Matt, especially for your explanation
[13:10] Duraya: the pictures shown were all unique and no fail there Ava, not at all, I love the shot
[13:11] Duraya: Our time is up today, I think this wasn’t an easy challenge and thank you for participating
[13:12] Duraya: our next cafe, episode #43, will be on September 16th
